We bought a premier cat fountain so I’m here to give you the scoop on the good, the bad, and the ugly when you have three cats using it. We’ve been using this particular one for over a year now and it’s still holding up well with no problems. So here we go…

The Good..
To put it very simply – they love this thing. From the moment I first turned it on they fell in love with it. When my cousin stayed with us for a few weeks she brought her cat and he immediately fell in love with it as well. Stagnant water dishes can get pretty nasty, especially when you have three or more cats using it. You still have to add water to this fountain daily but the filters help it stay fresh and clean for longer periods of time.

The Bad..
If you only have one cat then I’m certain this fountain is perfect for you. But if you have three cats like me then you’ll go through the water quite frequently. I have to add water about every 24 hours and if I don’t the water gets low enough that it starts sputtering and making loud noises. Now that’s a good reminder that you need to fill it… but not at 3 o’clock in the morning.

The ugly..
One word. Slime. Which is basically built up saliva from the cats. If you change out the filters often enough then this shouldn’t be too much of a problem. Otherwise, you will have to take the inside components apart and clean out the built-up slime. But if you change out the filters as often as you are supposed to do then you should only have to wipe it out every so often.

Tips…
Like With any falling water it does make a little bit of noise. Think of it sounding like a fish tank. Maybe you like the sound of a fish tank (I know I do) but if you couldn’t sleep or concentrate with a fish tank running in a certain room then you might not want to plan on having the cat fountain in that room either. For instance where you sleep or in an office.

If you use the Walmart grocery pickup feature you can easily put these filters for this fountain into your cart and have it brought out to your car.

Let me know if you’ve had experience with pet fountains and which ones you use. Is there one that you would recommend for multiple cats? Let me know in the comments!
